Obituary of Michele G. Pierce

Michele Gail Griffith Pierce, age 54, passed away surrounded by loved ones and family on January 14th, 2018. Michele is the daughter of Sandra J. Malatesta Mosley and the late Jonah W. Griffith, step-daughter of Gerald Mosley, wife of Michael L. Pierce Sr., niece of Dennis Malatesta (Jeannie), and granddaughter of the late Frank and Dorothy Malatesta. Michele is survived by her children, Cassie Griffith, Kristen Houchins-Jenkins (Robert), Jason Pierce (Bianca), Michele L. Pierce, and step children Michael L Pierce Jr. (Wanda), and Darrel Pierce (Carmen). Grandmother of Jordan, Kevin, and Morgan Pierce, Savannah Jenkins, Alyssa Pierce, Ailani and Kyla Pierce, Ashlynn Griffith, Darrel Pierce Jr., and great granddaughter Vanessa Pierce. Michele is also survived by her sister, Veronica J Atha, and brother, Mark A. Devich and several loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

 

Michele took pride in being the first class to complete four years at Cumberland Regional High School, she was a proud member of the class of 1981. Michele then attended Salem County Vocational School for phlebotomy. She worked as a phlebotomist for South Jersey Hospitals for ten years. Michele was a proud cancer survivor. Michele held fast to her faith and was an avid member of The First Church of the Nazarene in Hopewell. She also started an online prayer group called “Jesus is the Reason,” her prayer group touched many lives around the world.

 

Michele loved anything involving history and genealogy. She often volunteered her time at a local historical society and enjoyed traveling to historic places like Gettysburg, Pennsylvania for colonial reenactments. Michele had a very generous heart, she donated a kidney to her brother in law and helped anyone in any way she could. Michele loved to make crafts with her grandchildren. She enjoyed camping, traveling, cooking, knitting, singing and playing the guitar. Most importantly, Michele loved her family. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched.

 

Funeral services will be held at the First Church of the Nazarene, 350 West Park Drive, Hopewell Township on Saturday, January 20th at 12 Noon.  Friends will be received at the church from 10 AM to 12 Noon prior to the services.  Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Cedarville.  Arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Upper Deerfield Township.  Written condolences can be sent to the family at www.padgettfuneralhomes.com.
