Obituary of Bettie M. King
Bettie Mae Wright-King went home to be with the Lord on November 12, 2017 while residing at the Bishop McCarthy nursing home. Bettie was born September 4, 1926 and she departed life at the tender age of 91.
Bettie was a lifelong native of Bridgeton, NJ and attended Bridgeton High School. She retired from Minot's Food Packers, Inc. Bettie enjoyed spending most of her time cooking, shopping, gardening and spending time with her family. Her gardening spilled over into the lives of her family. As a praying woman she sowed an immeasurable amount of prayer to cover their lives. She leaves a legacy of a life lived in Christ. She was known for “telling it like it is”.
Bettie was a dedicated member of John Wesley United Methodist Church, Bridgeton, NJ for over 30 years and served on several committees within the church. She enjoyed traveling with her church and lived listening to the Inspirational choir, directed by Bishop Floyd Myrie and all the anointed soloists that accompanied the choir.
She leaves to cherish her memories; her brother, Floyd Wright, Sr.; five sons, Robert Wright (Vera), Victor Torres (Brenda), Gregory J. King, Jeffrey M,. King (Maria), Ronald S. King (Stacey); four daughters, Joann Clarke, Beverly E. King, Lillian R. Staton, Patina J. King; twenty-nine grandchildren, Kenny King, Otis King, Ruby King-White (Greg), Jo-Anne King-Hunter (Frank), Evonne King-Davis (Anthony), Luther King, Eric King, Lateenya Bell, Deborah Bell, Rosalind Logan (David), Rudolph Bell, Jr., Anthony King, Sr., Ericka King, Renee Jones, Regina Jones-Holbert, Tamyia Gould (Tariq), Stephanie Johnson (Milton), Whitley King, Roche King, Princesa King, Erica Parker (Stephen), David Days, Jr. (Marianne), Latosha Days, Valerie Wright, Andrea Wright, Christopher Johnson, Ronald King, Jr., Jazmin King; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Bettie is predeceased by her parents, Clarence Wright Sr. and Laura (Brown) Wright; five brothers, Jesse Wright, Robert Wright, Sr., Clarence Wright, Jr., Calvin Wright, Sr., Benjamin Wright; one sister, Henrietta Wright Melton; one daughter, Diane Bell; and two grandsons, Luther Jones and Eric Jones.
Funeral services will be held at John Wesley United Methodist Church, 90 Matthew Brown Way, Bridgeton on Monday, November 20th at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Memorial Park in Hopewell Twp. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Upper Deerfield Twp.
