Obituary of Ressie Morris

Ressie Morris, 83, of Upper Deerfield Twp. died at her home on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 under the care of hospice.

Born in Hartford, TN to the late Bruce Smith and Rosie Ball Smith, she was the wife of the late Albert Morris, Sr. In her early teens, Ressie moved to Elmer and in the late 1950's she relocated to Upper Deerfield Twp. where she lived for the rest of her life.

Ressie had been a homemaker who tirelessly cared for her family and home. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Bridgeton. In her free time she enjoyed bowling for many years in the coffee and donut league. Ressie was also an avid reader of her favorite authors; Patricia Cornwell, Nora Roberts, James Patterson and J.D. Dobbs.

She is survived by; four children, Albert “Rich” Morris, Jr. and his wife, Julie of Upper Deerfield Twp., Faith Lynn Dooley of Upper Deerfield Twp., Wanda Joy Woolery and her husband, Tony of Redlands, CA and Scott Douglas Morris, Sr. and his wife, Suzanne of Hopewell Twp.; six grandchildren, Scott D. Morris, Jr., Benjamin Allen Morris, Amber Ressie Morris, Richard Scott Morris, Jacqueline Joy Ward and Jimmy Dooley, Jr; a brother, Julius Smith of Clayton and 6 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, Albert, Sr., she was preceded in death by; two brothers, Headmen Smith and Joe Smith and a sister, Bernice Pierce.

Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Thursday, August 31st at 1 PM. Interment will take place at Centerton Free Will Baptist Cemetery in Pittsgrove Twp. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 11 AM to 1 PM prior to the services.
