Obituary of Ottilie Champion

Ottilie “Tillie” Champion, 94 of Jacksonville, FL formerly of Bridgeton died on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at Legacy, St. John's assisted living facility.

Born in Hohentan, Germany to the late Frank Janker and Ottilie Sieber, she was the wife of the late Lewis Brown who died in 1967 and the late Earl T. Champion, Sr. who died in 1985. In 2003, Tillie moved to Jacksonville, FL to live with her daughter and son-in-law until her death.

Prior to her retirement, Tillie had worked as a secretary at Owens Illinois Glass Co. in Bridgeton for over 40 years. She also had volunteered at the library. She was an active member of Immaculate Conception Church in Bridgeton and the “Toppers”, a social club through Owens Illinois. In her free time, Tillie enjoyed hosting family gatherings, utilizing her sons' DIY expertize and enjoying chocolate and crab cakes.

She is survived by; three sons, Charles A. Brown (Carolyn) of Pittsgrove Twp., Richard J. Brown (Shirley) of Bridgeton and David L. Brown (Kimberly) of Washington Twp.; a daughter, Kathleen O. Ramshaw (Eric) of Jacksonville, FL.; five grandchildren, Cheri Barton (Dan), Christie Willoughby (Jeff), Cathy Van der Maarel (Vince), Casey Brown and DJ Brown and four great-grandchildren, Kylee Barton Caroline Barton, Abby Willoughby and Cooper Willoughby. She was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Jenker.

The funeral liturgy will be celebrated at the Parish of the Holy Cross-Immaculate Conception Church, 312 N. Pearl Street, Bridgeton on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 12:00 PM. Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Bridgeton. Friends will be received at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Saturday July 1, 2017 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM prior to the funeral mass.
