Obituary of Thomas J. Bonner

Thomas J. Bonner, 83, of Millville died on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden. Thomas was born in Alston, GA to the late Riley E. Bonner and Alice Williams Bonner. In the mid-1930’s, he had moved from GA to Clayton, DE. Thomas then moved to FL where he lived for 11 years before moving to Cumberland County where he was a resident for the rest of his life. Prior to his retirement, Thomas had worked at Tot’s Iron Foundry in Bridgeton as a molder for over 10 years. He had also been employed at DeWilde’s Nursery for three years. He enjoyed fishing and working on cars in his free time. He had also lent his time to mentoring people. He is survived by two sons, George Bonner of Bridgeton and Christopher Bonner of Vineland; nine daughters, Cynthia Bonner Johnson of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Carol Bonner of Pompano Beach, FL, Patricia A. Mcnair of Lawnside, Anjeanette Ortiz of Vineland, Monica Irving of Vineland, Thomasina Harris of Fairfield Twp., Pastor Rachel Rhett of Vineland, Sherrie Williams of Vineland and Juanita Bonner of Vineland; a brother, George Cutler of Philadelphia; two sisters, Dorothy Brown of Bridgeton and Frances Mohammed of DE; 27 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Dawkins; a grandson, Victor Rhett, Jr.; eight brothers, Albert Bonner, Riley Bonner, Jr., Lester Bonner, Anthony Bonner, Willie Bonner, Arthur Lee Bonner, Odem Bonner and Rodgers Bonner; two sisters, Maudel Bonner and Carolyn Rodgers; two great-granddaughters and a great-grandson. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Thursday, December 15th at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Laurel Lawn Cemetery in Upper Deerfield Twp. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 9 AM to 11 AM prior to the services.
