To the family of Geneva Bodine, My thoughts are with you. You had a wonderful Mother. I am grateful for her for being such a good friend to my mother Mae Rauschert. She was a very kind and good hearted person. You have to be proud of her.

In 1996 I started down a bad road, got worse over the next 3 years, finally late 1998 my family helped me with a plan, and January of 1999, I left everything I knew and up and moved to FL. My Mom-mom Bodine aka Granny took me in. I lived with her and my Step Grandfather Jim for the 1st 9 months in FL. I worked from 3P till, but no matter what time I got in my Granny was waiting up for me with a dinner ready. I did a lot of growing up in FL and she was the one who I confided in. We would watch Joel Osteen together, and the 1st time I saw The Good, The Bad and The Ugly was with her. She grew up with little money in WV and TN and the stories she told me made me truly appreciate what I had. Two quick stories, 1st in 1996 I was throwing the Javelin at the Florida State University Relays, I flew into Orlando and worked out in her retirement community for a week, we drove together up highway 27 to Tallahassee, shared a room at a Comfort Inn, she sat in the blazing sun to watch me compete, I finished 2nd and qualified for the D3 National Championships, she was so proud that her Grandson from Rowan University in NJ had finished 2nd among FSU, UF, Miami, Georgia, SC, LSU, and Alabama athletes. We had a great steak dinner that night before we headed back to her house in Haines City. The other goes farther back. When my Pop-pop Bodine died she was still running Bodine's Catering out of Cederville. I remember spending the day with her watching her cook the meatballs, going to pick up supplies in the catering van and going across the street from her house to look at the turtles in her neighbors yard! She grew up in a different time and was a little rough around the edges but was truly a wonderful person. When Mom-mom Bodine passed away I know that she got to go home with the Lord and I am so happy for her. She has been bedridden after breaking her hip on a visit up here, gosh 5 years ago or more now, I tried to see her when I could, it was easier when I was up from FL because I had no other obligations, once I moved back 2 years ago with the boys it became tough, and I should have made more of an effort, I loved her so very much and I truly miss her but can't wait for the glorious meeting we will have again. My Aunt and her family have been caring for Granny since the fall and have given up a good portion of their lives so she could spend her days with family and I appreciate what they did, they need prayers as well. She lived a long an fruitful life anyone who makes it to their 90's does, Granny I will miss our fried bologna, red onion, lettuce on white toast sandwiches, and your Goulash, but I will miss you stories the most, RIP Granny, love Little Richie

My deepest condolences to the family. Geneva was a close friend. When I was going through cancer, a day never passed that I didn't get a card. We had many laughs together.
I know she is in a better place, absent from the body present with the Lord.`
R.I.P dear friend I'll see you again someday.
