Obituary of George Thomas Pearce

George Thomas Pearce of Bridgeton, New Jersey passed away at Virtua Hospital in Marlton from complications of pneumonia and the devastating effects of dementia.
Mr. Pearce was a direct descendant of the earliest settlers of southern New Jersey who arrived in the early 1700’s. The original family name was Pierce.
George was born on April 14, 1949 at Bridgeton Memorial Hospital to George H. Pearce, Jr. and his wife Emma Mary (nee Pierce) Pearce. He had attended public schools in Bridgeton and played football and track and field at BHS. He was an active participant in little league baseball and football. He graduated from Lincoln Technical Institute in Philadelphia, PA.
George was a keen follower of the national football, basketball and baseball teams. He was also an avid watcher of the Olympics every four years. George enjoyed traveling throughout his life; visiting Canada, Europe, Central and South America and the Caribbean, usually by boat. True to form, George resided during his lifetime in NJ, Nevada, California, Texas and NY.
George was preceded in death by his parents and all of his aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife, Patsey O. Johnson. He was formerly married to Elaine Munki Pearce with whom he had a son, George Kim Pearce, survival unknown. In addition, he is mourned by his sister, Ethel Pearce Hall and her surviving children, Dr. Jo Ann Hall wife of Dr. Alexander Isaac and Mrs. Tina Lin Wall wife of Mr. Edward Wall.
Other surviving relatives include; great-nieces and nephews, Adin Isaac, Alexis Butt, Elayzha and Elijah Wilkins and Keimora, Jaylen and Cameron Wall. There remain a host of other cousins who are relatives of descendants of the Pearce/Pierce families.
A portion of George’s cremated remains will be scattered throughout the world by his relatives so that he may remain forever in those places where he found enlightenment, enjoyment and peace. A memorial service will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Friday, October 7th at 1 PM. Friends will be received at the funeral home form 12 Noon to 1 PM. Inurnment will take place at Gouldtown Memorial Park in Fairfield Twp. following the services. Another celebration of his life will be held at a later date privately for the family members.
