Obituary of Anthony J. Nardi

Anthony J. “Tony”: Nardi, Sr., passed away on Friday, August 12, 2016 at Inspira Medical Center-Vineland with his family by his side. Born in Millville on January 10, 1924, he was the son of the late Frank Nardi and Mary Lamanteer Nardi and the husband of the late Theresa Spagnola Nardi. Mr. and Mrs. Nardi had been married for 60 years prior to her passing in 2007. A United States Army Veteran, he had served his country during World War Two. Mr. Nardi retired from Owens-Illinois Glass Co. in Bridgeton after 45 years of service. Recently until 2015 he had been a crossing guard for the City of Millville which he enjoyed for having the opportunity to interact with the children at his crossings and his co-workers. He worked tirelessly for many years serving as the president of the Cumberland County Fair Association, the Buckshutem Antlers Gunning Club and the Owens-Illinois Clubhouse. He was also well known for his barbeques and catering for many events through the years. He is survived by his children, Mary Sweet (Wayne) of Hopewell Twp., Frank Nardi (Donna) of Vineland and Anthony Nardi, Jr. (Elaine) of Millville; grandchildren, Kimberly Barry, Jaina (Albert Chard), Cori (Ben Garcia), Angelica (Keith Wildin), Frank Nardi (Shannon) and Brian Nardi; great-grandchildren, Mallory Barry, Alaina and Rebecca Chard and Domenek and Gavin Garcia along with many nieces and nephews, especially Joe Nardi. He was predeceased by his siblings, Bruno, Joe, Angelina and Rose. His Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at the Parish of All Saints-St. Mary Magdalen Church, 621 Dock Street, Millville on Friday, August 19th at 11 AM. Friends will be received at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway # 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 PM and on Friday morning from 9 to 10 AM. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Millville. Contributions if so desired can be made in his memory to either the Parish of All Saints, 621 Dock St., Millville, NJ 08332 or to the Millville Rescue Squad, 600 Cedar St., Millville, NJ 08332.
