Obituary of Mayra E. Diaz-Gonzalez

Mayra E. Diaz-Gonzalez, 53, of Bridgeton, died on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Inspira Medical Center-Vineland following an extended illness. Born in Brooklyn, NY to Elida Cruz and the late Victor Diaz-Lopez, she was the wife of Ed Carney. Maya was raised in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico until she was 20 years of age when she moved to the Bridgeton area. She was a Bridgeton resident for the rest of her life. Mayra was a loving mother, grandmother and homemaker who tirelessly cared for her family. She enjoyed cooking, cleaning and listening to salsa music. Mayra loved to spend time with her granddaughter. She is survived by; her husband, Ed Carney of Bridgeton; her mother, Elida Cruz of Bridgeton; six children, Luis Gonzalez of Bridgeton, Yahaira Gonzalez of Bridgeton, Antonio Cruz of Vineland, Lillian Ramirez of Bridgeton,Marisol Cruz of Millville and Jose Ramos of Bridgeton; seven siblings, Orlando Diaz, Lizzette Diaz, Victor Ortiz, Fransico Ortiz, Carmen Ortiz, Thomas Nieves and Luis Diaz and 24 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Edgar Diaz. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated at Parish of the Holy Cross-Immaculate Conception Church, 312 N. Pearl Street, Bridgeton on Friday, July 1st at 10:30 AM. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery at Laurel Lawn in Upper Deerfield Twp. Friends will be received at the church from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM prior to the services. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Upper Deerfield Twp.
