Obituary of Donald L. Shrouder

Donald Lee Shrouder went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 3, 2016. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida and was the son of Thomas Shrouder and Mary E. (Betty Jane Johnson-Shrouder). He was the husband of Beatrice Ann Prettyman-Shrouder. They were married 54 years ago in Cedarville Presbyterian Church on February 24, 1962. Donald was the father of two girls, Betty Jane (BJ) Shrouder of Fairfield Twp. and Carol Ann Shrouder-Erhart and her husband Robert Erhart of Alloway. He was also the “self-adopted” father of Darren Pierce and his wife Rita of Hopewell. He was also the grandfather to Jennifer Ore of Carneys Point, Jimmie Ore II of Fairton and Mary Elizabeth Ore of Deerfield. He also had three step grandchildren Robert, Harlie and Hunter Erhart and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He adored his two great grandsons Jimmie Jay Ore III and Gabriel Micah Brown. He loved playing ball with them and taking Little Jay to the bus stop in the mornings so they could box while they waited for the bus. He loved to go fishing and cook his famous fish and fritters. While his girls were young he was 4H leader with his wife of the Clarks Pond Needles and Nails. Donald was a member of the Maranatha Baptist Church. He worked for Cumberland Area Transport Services of Cumberland County for 27 years. He did the medical runs to Philadelphia, Delaware and local hospitals. He was also employed by Wheaton Industries, The Vineland Egg Auction, Fairfield Township Police (where he was known as SGT. Hound Dog) and the Hazelhurst Police in Georgia. He was predeceased by his parents, sisters- Betty Scott, Libby MacDonald, Louise Hutchinson, Claudia Vogt, Lois Chaney, brothers Elbert and Joseph Thomas (JT) and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Maranatha Baptist Church, 1524 Bridgeton-Millville Pike, Millville on Saturday, June 11th at 11 AM. Friends will be received at the church from 10 to 11 AM prior to the services. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Cedarville. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions in Donald’s memory be made to Maranatha Baptist Church, 1524 Bridgeton-Millville Pike, Millville, NJ 08332.
