Obituary of Hannah M. Coles

Born in Bridgeton on July 7, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Elbert E. Moore and Hazel Bradford Moore and the wife of the late Frank S. Coles. She had been an Upper Deerfield Township resident for 72 years. An active member of the Deerfield Presbyterian Church, Mrs. Coles was a member of the Women's Guild, The Mission Society, an honorary member of the Mission Board of the United Presbyterian Church and Sunday school superintendent. She was a lifelong member of the church choir and was instrumental in overseeing the renovation of the Church, the Christian Education Building and the Church Organ. She had also served many years on the Upper Deerfield Township School Board, was a substitute teacher, a 4-H leader and an active member of the Cumberland County Historical Society. She is survived by her son, Geoffrey J. Coles of Upper Deerfield Township; her daughter, Deborah C. Murray (Bruce) of Kennett Square, PA; her granddaughter, Samantha C. Murray (George Alessandria) of Philadelphia, PA and two great grandsons, George and Henry Alessandria. She was predeceased by three brothers, Elbert E., Leslie B. and Major Rexford L. Moore, USAF. Funeral services will be held at the Deerfield Presbyterian Church, 530 Old Deerfield Pike, Deerfield, on Friday, February 8th at 11 AM. Family and friends will be received at the church from 10 to 11 AM prior to the services. Burial will take place at Deerfield Presbyterian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks the contributions in Mrs. Cole's memory be made to the Deacon's Fund of the Deerfield Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Upper Deerfield Township.
