Obituary of Elizabeth S. Ross

            Elizabeth Shirley Ross, was born on September 20, 1936 to the late Edward and Louise Ross in Port Norris, New Jersey. She passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2017 and was 81 years old.

            She was educated in the Port Norris School system where she attended Brown School and Port Norris Elementary.

            Shirley had a vast array of employment. In her youth she was a licensed beautician and she worked in the seafood industry in the Port Norris area. She was also a seller of Popular Club. Later she became employed at Wheaton Glass Co. where she was employed for over 30 years and of which she retired.

            When Shirley was young she attended the Church of God in Christ located in South Port Norris. She later accepted the Lord as her personal Lord and Savior and became a member of Shiloh Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. James A. Dunkins.

            She loved to shop, enjoyed working, watching horse racing, playing cards and listening to gospel music. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 23.

            Shirley was predeceased by her son, Arnold Ross two brothers, Edward and Lafayette Ross and two sisters, Delores and Emma Jean Ross. She leaves to cherish her memory; her sister, Margaret Towner of Port Norris; her niece, Jean Doretha and John Maddox of Port Norris; her nephew, Allen Anthony Wallace of Atlanta, GA; her granddaughter, Keesha Moore-Ross of Millville; one great-grandchild; three great-grandchildren; her daughter, Vendetta Smith and her God-daughter, Mondell Matthews both of Port Norris; Eleanor Williams who she affectionately called her play daughter of Millville and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

            Funeral services will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church, Memorial Ave., Port Norris on Saturday, November 4th at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Haleyville Methodist Cemetery in Commercial Twp. Friends will be received at the church from 9 AM to 11 AM prior to the services.
