Bessie D. Hughes, 53, of Millville died on Friday, October 13, 2017 at Inspira Medical Center-Vineland following an extended illness.

 

Bessie was born in Bridgeton to the late Harry Ivins and Mary DeValle Ivins. She had been a Bridgeton area resident most of her life.

 

Prior to her illness, Bessie had worked as a dispatcher at Millville Yellow Cab for over 10 years. She had been previously employed as a dispatcher at Landis Cab in Millville for about two years. In her free time, Bessie enjoyed listening to music especially Bon Jovi and Joe Walsh, driving, spending time with her children, being a clown with her friends, fishing and flower gardening. She had a love for all animals.

 

She is survived by; two daughters, Mandy Ivins-Cubbage and her husband, Mike of Millville and Alicia Descar of GA; a son, Michael Lyons and his wife, Vikki of Millville; her companion, William “Cowboy” Smith of Millville; a brother, Harry A. Ivins of Bridgeton and four grandchildren, Caleb Lyons,Deanna Ortiz, Lillian Burkert and Evelyn Burkert. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Logan.

 

Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Those wishing to attend should contact the family for details. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Upper Deerfield Twp.
