Obituary of Chester W. Swing

Chester W. Swing, Sr., 80, of Quinton Twp. died on Monday, June 19, 2017 at Golden Nursing Center in Salem following a brief illness.

 

            Born in Alloway Twp. to the late Chester R. Swing and Margaret McAllister Swing, he was the husband of Adrene Goto Swing. Chester moved to Quinton Twp. in 1974 where he was a resident for the rest of his life. Before that he had lived in Shiloh Borough.

 

            Prior to his retirement, he had worked as a heavy machinery operator for Union Local 825 Operating Engineers Union most recently at South State for over 30 years and had also been previously employed by Gentile Bros. in Bridgeton. Chester had been a member of the American Legion Shoemaker Post 95 and the 5th Ward Club in Bridgeton. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, bottle collecting and playing guitar. Chester was also an avid sports fan especially NASCAR racing.

 

            Besides his wife, Adrene, he is survived by two children, Chester W. Swing, Jr. of Quinton Twp. and Susan Swing of Rosenhayn; five sisters, Gladys Franco of TX, Marion Abbott of Alloway Twp., Shirley Swing of Bridgeton, Linda Armstrong of Woodstown and Carol Madaraca of Woodstown and a brother, George Swing of Shiloh Borough.

 

            Memorial services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Friday, June 23rd at 7 PM. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 6 PM to 7 PM prior to the services. Written condolence can be sent to the family through the funeral home website at www.padgettfuneralhomes.com.
