Teodor “Teddy O” Oniszczuk, 69, of Upper Deerfield Twp. died on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at his home under the care of Hospice and his family. Born in Germany to the late Teodor Oniszczuk and Anna Waligora Oniszczuk, he was the husband of Sue Borgese Oniszczuk. He had been a resident of Upper Deerfield Twp. and Bridgeton most of his life. Ted was a veteran and served his country in the United States Marine Corps in Delta Company/ Third Recon during the Vietnam Conflict where he received the Purple Heart for being wounded in action. Prior to his retirement he worked as a corrections officer at the Bayside State Correctional Facility in Leesburg for over 26 years. He had also volunteered his services serving on morgue detail during the New York City terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 assisting with search and identification of those who lost their lives that day. In his free time he enjoyed fishing and attending sporting events that his grandchildren were involved with. He also enjoyed traveling, the casinos and woodworking. He was a life member of VFW Meade-Woodward Post 1795, the 5th Ward Athletic Association and the Italian American Civic Club in Bridgeton. In addition to his wife Sue, he is survived by his three children, Joseph Santomo (Donna) of Upper Deerfield Twp., Kimberly Coombs (Walter) of Upper Deerfield Twp. and Jennifer Oniszczuk-Miletta (Frank) of Upper Deerfield Twp.; his sister, Helena Munyon of Cedarville and seven grandchildren, Samantha, Jason, Anthony, Derrick, Lauryn, Nicolas and Nathan. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 1 PM. Interment will take place at Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery in Hopewell Twp. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 12 PM to 1 PM prior to the services.
