Rosie Lee Smith, 96, of Bridgeton died on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at the Cumberland Manor in Hopewell Twp. following an extended illness. Rosie Lee was born in Ashburn, GA to the late Arthur Smith and Mattie Daniels Smith. In 1950, she moved to the Bridgeton area where she lived for the rest of her life. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed at B&B Poultry Company. She was a member of Refuge Church of Christ in Bridgeton. At the church she served as senior mother on the Mother's Board, president of the Willing Workers, president of the Kitchen, treasurer of the Missionary Board, treasurer of the Building Fund Committee and a senior choir member. In her free time she liked to do word search puzzle books, going out to dinner and fishing. She is survived by her best friend of over 50 years, Zettie Griffin; her goddaughter, Julia Brooks; her godson, Christopher Johnson; two daughters-in-law; four grandsons and three granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her son, Artis Smith. Funeral services will be held at Refuge Church of Christ, 85 Manheim Ave., Bridgeton on Friday, January 27th at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Laurel Lawn Cemetery in Upper Deerfield Twp. Friends will be received at the church from 9 AM to 11 AM prior to the services. In lieu of flowers contributions in Rosie’s memory can be made to Refuge Church of Christ.
