Obituary of Robert Lee King

Robert L. King, 85, of Hopewell Twp. died on Thursday evening, January 19, 2017 at his home under the care of his family following an extended illness. Born in Gates, PA to the late Joseph King and Margurite Roush King, he was the husband of Patricia Bridge King. Robert had resided in PA until he joined the military. In 1954, he came to NJ to work for Owens Illinois Glass in Bridgeton and later moved to Hopewell where he lived for the rest of his life. Prior to his retirement, he had worked as an electrician at Cumberland Regional High School for many years. He had also been employed by Owens Illinois Glass in Bridgeton and PA for 34 years. He had also worked for the Cumberland County Department of Education delivering audio visual aides to Cumberland County Schools for many years. Robert was a member of the Parish of the Holy Cross-Immaculate Conception Church in Bridgeton. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending quality time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed working on his antique car, a 1946 Ford Coupe. In addition to his wife, Pat he is survived by his two children, Carol Mossbrooks and her husband, John of Upper Deerfield Twp. and Jimmy King and his wife, Louise of Hopewell Twp.; two grandchildren, Shelbi Mossbrooks and John Robert Mossbrooks and his fiancé, Morgan Mooneyham and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members. He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Cole. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Wednesday January 25th at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Overlook Cemetery in Bridgeton. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10 AM to 11 AM prior to the services. The family asks that donations in Mr. King's memory be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
