Charles Kenneth “Ken” Rieger, Sr., 76, of Fairton went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 13, 2016 after his third battle with cancer. He was born in Bridgeton on August 13, 1940 to the late Charles E. Rieger and Margaret (Jenkins) Rieger. He was a life-long resident of Fairton and attended Bridgeton High School, graduating in 1958. Ken had worked with his dad and uncle at Rieger Brothers Printing and eventually became the proprietor. He also worked as a diesel mechanic for Cross Transportation and Ryder Trucking, a machine operator at Inscon Cable and a pressman at DiMarchi Printing, Standard Publishing and Newshire Forms. Ken served the community in his younger days as member of the Fairton Fire Company No. 1 and as a District Fire Warden for the NJ Forest Fire Service. He attended Fairton Christian Center. He loved being outdoors, fishing and hunting. Ken is survived by his wife of 57 years, Pearl (Borchers) Rieger; two sons, Charles “Chuck” K. Rieger, Jr. and Bill Rieger (Mary) both of Fairton; two sisters, Kathy Rieger of Carneys Point and Diane Dickenson of Fairton; five grandchildren, Thomas “TJ” Rieger (Jess), Tim Rieger (Amber), Heather Loscar (Ken), Billy and Chad Rieger and five great-grandchildren; Milburn “Junior” Swann (Gina) who was like a son to him and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Barbara A. Rieger and his daughter-in-law, Betty J. (Doughty) Rieger. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Saturday, November 19th at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Old Stone Church Cemetery in Fairfield Twp. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday evening, November 18th from 6 PM to 8 PM and on Saturday morning, November 19th from 10 AM to 11 AM prior to the services. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Ken’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 1851 Old Cuthbert Rd, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034 or to the Cumberland County SPCA, 1244 N.
