Obituary of Walter Emery

Walter Emery, Jr., 89, of Bridgeton died on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at Cumberland Manor in Hopewell Twp. Born in Bridgeton to the late Walt “Bud” Emery, Sr. and Hazel Haggerty Emery, he was the husband of Dolores Yarnall Emery. Walter was a Bridgeton area resident most of his life except for a 15 year period that he had lived in Florida. Prior to his retirement he had been employed with Cross Trucking Company in Upper Deerfield Twp. and National Freight in Vineland as a truck driver. In addition to his wife, Dolores, he is survived by his two sons, Kenneth Emery of Upper Deerfield Twp. and John Emery of Lawrence Twp.; three daughters, Barbara Tindall of DE, Jerri MacViegh of DE and Joanne Townsend of DE; two brothers, Charles Emery of Pennsville and Wallace Reeves of Theodosia, MO; a sister, Elizabeth Keen of Pennsville; 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Walter Emery, III, a brother, Edward Emery and a sister, Sadie Blair. Graveside funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Walter’s memory to the Cumberland County SPCA, 1244 N. Delsea Dr., Vineland, NJ 08360.
