Obituary of Roby Fred Roberts

Roby Fred “Shot Gun” Roberts, 85, of Fairfield Twp. died Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at his home under the care of Hospice. The son of the late Moses Roberts and Mollie Brown Roberts, he was born in Yemasse, SC and was the husband of the late Mildred Cummings Roberts. He had been a Fairfield Twp. resident since 1967 and had lived in Bridgeton prior to that. Before his retirement, Mr. Roberts had been employed with Seabrook Bros. and Sons and Clement Pappas in Upper Deerfield Twp. for several years and before that the Perkins-DeWilde Nursery in Shiloh. He was the best machine operator this side of heaven. Roby was very outgoing, hard working and the life of the party. He was well received by everyone he encountered. He enjoyed western movies and the oldies particularly Al Green. Surviving are six sons, Lonnie Roberts (Andrea) of FL, Larry Lockhark of GA, Wayne Roberts of Millville, Jeffrey Roberts of FL, Alphonso Roberts (Sherry) of Fairfield Twp. and Edward Roberts of CA; three daughters, Dawn Nadine Roberts-Church of Fairfield Twp., Bonnie Rhunetta Roberts of Millville and Rearcie Lavarn Roberts of Philadelphia; a sister, Laura Sumter of SC, 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Tuesday, September 20th at 11 AM. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10 to 11 AM prior to the services. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Memorial Park in Hopewell Twp.
