Obituary of Eileen M. McAlonan

EILEEN McGOLDRICK McALONAN was born September 10, 1926 in Philadelphia, PA to George McGoldrick and Abigail (née Dalton). She attended West Catholic High School and was a member of the Women’s Army Air Corps in WWII. Francis R. McAlonan (deceased 4/13/06) and Eileen married on January 30, 1946 and together they raised Francis (Bonnie), William George (Geraldine), Kevin (Jackie), John Patrick (Ron), Margaret (John Matthews), Helen (Mike Placente), James (deceased 9/23/09), Raymond (Regina). Eileen was grandmother to Bridget (Tim), Kayt (Joe), Frank (Tara), Laura, Conor (Shelley), Billy (Bonnie), Jake, Colleen (Noah), Megan (Josh), Mark, Timothy James, Eileen, Joe, Devin, Ryon, John, Sean, Caeli, and William John. She was also great grandmother to Leo, Liam, Ben, Gabriella, Evan, Kaiya, Jayden, Juliana, and Fiona. Eileen was an active member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Salem, NJ, where in the 1970’s she created the breakfast and lunch program for the children of St. Mary School and extended to any hungry child in the community. Eileen was loved by many and took shit from no one. She had an awesome sense of humor and was the consummate hostess of family and friends. Alzheimer’s disease stole this from our dear mother. Eileen and Francis created many fond memories at their second home in the village of Leenane, Ireland on the Kilary Harbour. She was devoted to her faith and to St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 25 Oak St., Salem, where a Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, July 25, 2016 at 10:45 AM.
