Mr. Thomas was by boss for 30 years. I was only a teenager when I began working for him. Hard to believe he is gone - I don't recall him ever taking a sick day. Mr. Thomas had the gift of "making things happen" and an incredible foresight for the future needs of the unemployed. May GOD bless you and give you peace at this difficult time.

Tanya, My prayers go out to you and your family at this time. May you always remember the fond moments with your father. Memories are tucked away in our heart forever. My dad passed away when he was 79 five years ago. Our fathers may be gone; however, will never be forgotten. In sympathy, Pat

I first heard about Mr. Thomas, when our homeroom teacher announced to the class that she was getting married to Charles Thomas! Little did I know that I would be hired by this very same man many years later. I first met Mr. Thomas through a mutual friend. I didn't realize at the time that he was "The Mr. Thomas" who married my homeroom teacher! Mr. Thomas hire me in March, 1992. I will always be thankful for the opportunity he gave me and for believing in me, when I didn't believe in myself. He had opened the door to a wonderful career where I could help others as he had helped me. Mr. Thomas changed my life and the lives of many others in this community. May you and your family find comfort in the strength of God's love during this difficult time.

There is no denying that Mr. Thomas touched the lives of many, many individuals in this county. Were it not for him, many of us, including myself, would not be in the professional positions in which we are today. He was a tough boss, which translated to teaching excellent work ethics. He taught accountability. Condolences to the Thomas family and rest in peace Charlie! Gone but not forgotten.

Mr. Thomas offered me the opportunity to have my first full time "Professional Career", as Director of the Youth Program in 1974 for the CETA program. I had the pleasure of also working under the CCC Board of Trustees in my current job in Admissions. May you rest in peace Mr. Charlie Thomas. Thanks for everything!

A personal Tribute to Mr. Charles Thomas, lovingly known as Mr. T!
18 + years ago I was down and out in my life. I figured I should do something good for my daughters so I enrolled at the Middle School GED program, since I was a welfare recipient they took me out of my class and put me in the then called, JTPA…I believe it took me about a good 4-5 months to get ready for the test, I was an excellent student because I wanted to be and Mr. T saw that. After earning my GED Mr. T CWEP’d me, (that’s Community Work Experience) I did that for 1 ½ years and one day Mr. T called me in his office…He told me he was going to hire me, need I say that I was the happiest woman ever and back in 1995 he started me with $18,000 yearly, I have never ever been so happy in my life.
On July 10, 1995 my very first day as an employee the very first thing I did was to call my wonderful social worker, Ms. Rossi and thanked her for all the years they took care of me and my daughters, it was another great moment for me. I will never be able to thank Mr. T enough for all he did for me, he may have had a rough exterior sometimes but he liked things done right but also was a teddy bear and I did appreciate him, he was always like a dad to me. As soon as I heard of his passing, I went outside, looked up at the heavens and prayed for him to be in the light and I told him he will be missed. It’s a very sad day for me today and I know for others too. There’s no denying that Mr. T was the one man that turned my life around and I’ll always remember him and am grateful that God put him in my life.

Mr. Thomas was my boss for 28 years. He was a mentor and a friend. He was a great community and political leader. Mr. Thomas was also a visionary with a gift to see the future of new and inventive ways of training and putting people to work. I would not be the person I am today if not for the guidance of a man I will always admire and respect. My sincere condolences to his family. I will miss him.
