Obituary of Clay Brown

Clay Brown, 70, of Pittsgrove Township, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at home under the care of Hospice and his family. Born in Bridgeton to the late Love Brown and Ellen Shults Brown, he was one of 15 children. Clay was married to the love of his life, Ella who preceded him in 2018. Over the years within his career Clay worked for Rudco Products as a welder for many years. He and Ella moved to N.C. where they spent many years and he worked at Myrick Construction and also enjoyed working on the farms putting to use the love he had for working with animals. After their time living down south they moved back to N.J. to be with their kids and grandchildren. Clay was then employed with Cumberland Dairy where he then retired from. Once retired, he kept himself busy enjoying what he loved to do which was anything that kept him outside. He loved doing yard work, planting flowers, feeding the birds, growing vegetable gardens and would be a helping hand to anyone who needed anything. The one thing that he was also known for was his love for music. If there was country music on he was singing along and if not he was singing alone. Clay is survived by; his three children, Tammy of Newfield, Michael (Angel) of Elmer and Beth (David) of Pittsgrove; siblings, Sadie, Lucy, Kathy, Nancy, Floyd and Herman; 12 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. In addition to being preceded by his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by; his son, Sam; and siblings Earl, Jimmy, Donnie, Kenny, Ray, Wilma, Marie and Martha. Lovingly Submitted, The Family Funeral Services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp., on Friday March, 14th at 11 AM. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 9 AM to 11 AM prior to the service. Interment will take place at Centerton Free Will Baptist Cemetery in Pittsgrove Twp. following the service.
