Obituary of Theresa Hamilton
Please share a memory of Theresa to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Deaconess Theresa Hamilton was born on August 18, 1945, to the late Sidney and Rebecca Giddens in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. On March 3, 2025, Theresa passed away peacefully when the Lord whispered her name, and she answered His call while surrounded by family.
Affectionately known as "Terry," she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age and served as the church clerk at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Woodbury, NJ, for over 15 years. She later joined Shiloh Baptist Church in Port Norris, NJ, where she accepted the position of Financial Service Coordinator and Business Manager in 2005. In addition, she served as a Workshop Facilitator, teaching financial literacy to other churches, volunteered for the church pantry, sang in the choir, and was a line dance instructor for the Stepping to a Different Beat program.
Terry attended Millville High School and later enrolled at Rutgers University, where she majored in accounting. She began working at an early age and proudly served the State of New Jersey at the City of Woodbury until she retired after 25 years of service as the Deputy Tax Collector and Treasurer.
"Miz T" loved to dance, and in 2005, she became part of the line dance community, where she met many special friends, attending every event she could. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. When she wasn’t working or dancing, she cherished spending time with family and friends. For over 15 years, she volunteered in the sporting concession stand alongside her daughter. She also loved playing cards and games with her dear friends and her grandson, "Chocc." She took great pride in her family's achievements, often boasting about their accomplishments.
An avid football fan, she passionately supported her Vikings, often cheering and shouting "Skol Nation!" during football season.
She leaves her family to cherish her precious memory; four sons, Alfred Harden III (Annetta) of Sicklerville, NJ, Julius Harden (Karen) of Bridgeton, NJ, Anthony Harden (Kim) of Millville, NJ, and Spencer Harden (Carolyn) of Vineland, NJ; one daughter, Deidra Marbley of Sicklerville, NJ; 11 grandchildren; Jalyn, Sheldon, Julius Jr., Marquis, Shaniqua, Anthony Jr., Alexis, Matthew, Tiera (Chris), Westley Jr. and Sidney, a.k.a. "her Chocc"; 16 great-grandchildren; one brother, Sidney Jr.; and a host of extended grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and very close friends and family who she played second mom and grandmom and to whom she loved dearly.
Sorrowfully Submitted,
The Family
