Obituary of Lonnie L. Coles

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lonnie Coles, who left this world peacefully on February 15, 2025, at the age of 93, after a brief illness. Lonnie was born on April 24, 1931, in Roxboro, North Carolina, where he began a life marked by love, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to his family and friends. Lonnie was the cherished son of Melissa Hill Coles and Joe Coles, who instilled in him the values of hard work and compassion. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Melissa Hill Coles; his father, Joe Coles; his brothers, Elie, Lloyd, and George Coles; and his longtime companion, Laura Hannah. Their memories will forever remain a part of his legacy. He is survived by a devoted family that includes Tom Hannah, Victor Hannah, Barbara Hannah (Eddie Goldsboro), Janet Hannah, Novella Hannah Gregory (Vernon), Anthony Nichols (Lisa), Linda Hannah, Anthony Hannah, Niya Hannah, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Each of them carries a piece of Lonnie's spirit, and they will honor his memory by living lives full of kindness and love. His legacy is one of devotion and warmth, a testament to the deep bonds that he nurtured throughout his life. In this time of sorrow, we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Ronisha and Raheem Blyther, along with the staff at Active Day Bridgeton, for their compassionate care and support, Their kindness has brought comfort to Lonnie and his family during his final days. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Memorial Park in Hopewell Twp. Friends will be received at the church from 9 AM to 10 AM prior to the services.
