


Obituary of Lois Jones

Lois Cole Jones, born November 5, 1931, in Chunky, Mississippi, was the beloved daughter of the late Willie and Velma Cole. She departed this life on Monday, February 17, 2025, after a short illness, leaving behind a legacy of love and faith.
Lois grew up in Newton, Mississippi, where she attended school before moving to New Jersey, where she spent 75 years of her life. Though she embraced her new home, she frequently returned to Mississippi to visit her family & friends, maintaining close ties to her roots. In New Jersey Lois met and married her husband, the late Carey Jones Sr. and together they raised eight children. Following Carey’s passing Lois remained a dedicated mother and grandmother instilling values of love and faith in her family. Lois dedicated many years of her life to working at the Vineland Developmental Center until her retirement. Beyond her professional life she had a passion for sewing, cooking, gardening, and caring for her family, which brought her immense joy.
She was a dedicated Jehovah’s Witness since her baptism in 1972. Lois passionately shared the promises of the Bible with all who would listen. She cherished her time at Meetings, Assemblies, and Conventions where she formed lasting friendships within the faith community.
Lois leaves to cherish her memory; four daughters, Darlene (Lloyd) of Millville, NJ, Debbie (Elrod) of Millville, NJ, Wanda of Millville, NJ and Iris of Bridgeton, NJ.; three sons, Carey Jr., David (Judy) of Hopewell Twp., NJ and Scott Jones; five sisters, Rosie Walker, Martha Payne, Jeanette Lay, Margaret Needham and Carolyn Maryland; and two brothers, William and Charles Cole of Mississippi. She was a proud grandmother to 12 grandchildren, a loving great-grandmother to 21 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by; a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members. She will also be missed by her friends, including her special friend Myrtle.
Lois was predeceased by; her parents, Husband, son, Veron Cole, daughter-in-law, Barbara Cole and sister, Myrtle Ruth.
Throughout her illness, she fought valiantly, and her family finds comfort in her faith. As it is written “He will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed.” Revelations 21:4.
Lois Cole Jones will be forever loved and dearly missed by all who knew her.
Services will be held on Wednesday, March 5th at 11 AM at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Hwy 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10 AM to 11 AM prior to the service. Written condolences can be sent to the family through the funeral website www.padgettfuneralhomes.com.
