Theresa DeVito, 96, of Newport died on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at her home following a brief illness.

 

Born in the Bronx, New York City, NY to the late John Rocco and Pauline Ambrose Rocco, she was the wife of the late Charles Quigley and the late Michael DeVito. After WWII, Theresa and her family moved to Long Island, NY. In the 1980's she lived in Tarpon Springs, FL and Palm Harbor, FL. Theresa moved back to Long Island in 2000 and later resided in North Carolina and New Hope, PA before moving to Newport to live with her son, Kevin.

 

Theresa was a homemaker. In her free time, she enjoyed oil painting. She was know to paint landscapes, still lifes and portraits. Theresa was a great cook known for her lasagna. In her younger years, she had worked as a seamstress and enjoyed sewing many different types of clothing. She also enjoyed crocheting.

 

She is survived by; two children, Laura Quigley and her husband, John of Escondido, CA; Kevin Quigley and his wife, Hiroko of Newport; four step-children, Patricia Filipps of Villanova, PA, Francine Strano of Upstate NY, Kathy Martin of Upstate NY and Michael DeVito, Jr. of CA; a sister, Paula Hart of Lambertville; six grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by; her first husband, Charles Quigley; her second husband, Michael DeVito, Sr. and two siblings, Millie Michalenko and Frank Rocco.

 

Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Cedarville. Written condolences can be sent to the family through the funeral home website at www.padgettfuneralhomes.com.
