Sheppard W. “Shep” Thompson, Jr., 90, of Upper Deerfield Twp., passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at his home. Born in Millville to the late Sheppard W. Thompson, Sr. and Jennie Testa Thompson, he was the husband of the late Frances Limosino Thompson. Shep had lived at his present address in Upper Deerfield Twp. for the past three and a half years and prior to that he had resided in Hopewell Twp. and Bridgeton. Before his retirement, he had been worked as a truck driver for several local companies and later for his daughter at her company, Joanna and Son, Inc. in Hopewell Twp. Shep had also served and helped supervise the Upper Deerfield Twp. Rescue Squad for 17 years and had been a member of the Upper Deerfield Twp. police department. In his free time, he enjoyed helping others in their time of need and spending time with his daughter. He is survived by his daughter, Joanna Stidham Woolbert (J.R. Carney) of Hopewell Twp.; his grandson, Johnnie W. Stidham of Upper Deerfield Twp.; a close family friend, Bonnie Scull of Upper Deerfield Twp. and his nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, Frances, he was preceded in death by his sister, Louetta DePape. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Friday, October 16 at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery at Laurel Lawn in Upper Deerfield Twp. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 9 AM to 11 AM prior to the services.
