Laura Spann Livingston, 75, of Millville died Wednesday, July 22, 2020. Laura was born in Port Norris, New Jersey on March 31, 1945 to William and Mary Spann. She graduated from Bridgeton High School and later pursued her degree in Nursing as a LPN. After retiring from the nursing industry, she grew a love for fostering children. She was exceptional with children to the degree that when the agency called on her of a child in need, she always stepped in. She adopted 2 of those children as her own (Kevin Livingston and Alaiah Livingston) and also raised siblings (Tammy Bennett, Hannah Bennett and Josh Bennett) because she did not want them to be separated. Laura was known for her love of cooking which she always shared with ALL the neighbors in the vicinity. If you wanted a good home-cooked meal especially on Sunday’s, Laura was the house you went to and she served you with a warm heart and an infectious smile. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Laura is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Chinita Spann-Wynn (Wayne) of Bear, DE, a son, Javon Spann of Bear, DE, a granddaughter, Madison Paige Spann and a grandson, Javon Spann, Jr., a sister-in-law, Lillie Mae Spann of Bridgeton; an aunt, Adella “Baby Sis” Barrow of Port Norris and many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Laura was predeceased by her parents, William H. Spann, Sr. and Mary W. Spann; brothers, William H. Spann, Jr. “Billy” and Joseph M. Spann; niece, Lillie A. Spann; and late husband Sherman Livingston. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there will be no viewing. Memorial service will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Written condolences can be sent to the family through the funeral home website at www.padgettfuneralhomes.com.
