Leon C. “Chubby” Mullen, Sr., 89, of Fairfield Twp. passed Sunday, June 21, 2020 at AtlantiCare in Atlantic City. Born in Bridgeton to the late Leon R. Mullen and Edith Exel Mullen, he was the husband of Ellyn T. Scythes Mullen. Chubby had been a resident of Fairfield Twp. for the past 66 years and prior to that he had lived in Bridgeton. Prior to his retirement, he had owned and operated Harris and Mullens Garage in Bridgeton. He had been previously employed at the former Johnson Motors Auto Dealership also in Bridgeton. Chubby was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a graduate of Bridgeton High School Class of 1950. Chubby was an avid motorcyclist and enjoyed traveling the country with his family. He had visited nearly all of the 50 states. He is survived by; his wife, Ellyn Mullen of Fairton; his son, Leon C. Mullen, Jr of Fairton and his sister, Marlene Jones of Millville. He was preceded in death by; his daughter, Barbara Mullen; his brother, David Exel and four sisters, Addie Gilman, Edith Laning, Nancy Fogg and Judy Bock. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp on Monday, June 29th at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Overlook Cemetery in Bridgeton. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10 AM to 11 AM prior to the services.
