Lloyd Daniel Kershner, age 87, of Bridgeton died Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at the South Jersey Health Care Hospice Inpatient Unit in Bridgeton. Born in Halfway, Maryland on September 4, 1924 he was the son of the late Clarence Kershner and Martha Ausherman Kershner. He was predeceased by two wives, Jean Klink Kershner and Doris Gandy Kershner. He had been a Bridgeton resident since 1957, coming here from Chambersburg, PA. Mr. Kershner was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord, was a prayer warrior and now is in Heaven with his Lord. He was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church and attended there until he became a resident at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home in Vineland in 2006. He worked for many years at the former Pete's Men's and Boy's Store in Bridgeton until its closing and actively served as Past Commander and Chaplain of American Legion Shoemaker Post 95 in Bridgeton. A veteran of World War Two, he served his country in the United States Army. Surviving are four daughters, Sandra Miller and husband Jerry of Beaver, PA, Bonnie Pleger and husband Karl of Ft. Pierce, FL, Donna Renzi and husband Donald of Bridgeton and Debra Forman and husband Richard of Binghamton, NY; a son, Daniel L. Kershner and wife Donna of North Huntingdon, PA; a sister, Maxine Shoop of Hagerstown, MD and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren including step-grandchildren. He was predeceased by four sisters, Julia and Rosa May Kershner, Hazel Louise Whittington and Fannie Moats and a brother, Edgar H. Kershner. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway # 77, Upper Deerfield Township on Saturday, February 11th at 11 AM. Burial will take place at Fernwood Memorial Park in Hopewell Township. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday from 9 to 11 AM. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions in Mr. Kershner's memory be made to either the South Jersey Health Care Hospice Care Inpatient Center, P.O. Box 160, Bridgeton, NJ 08302 or to the NJ Veterans Memorial Home, 524 North West Blvd., Vineland, NJ 08360.
