Obituary of Walter D. Bown

Please share a memory of Walter to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Walter Bown, 76, of Millville, passed away suddenly on Friday, May 15. For the past 25 years, he and his wife of 57 years, Nancy, have lived at Laurel Lake where he became involved with the LLPOA and served in several capacities, including Director and Trustee. Walter was retired from Foster Forbes after 44 years of service. He was a member of the Bridgeton Nazarene Church for over 50 years and was part of the team that physically constructed the church. Walter, in his early years, studied for the ministry and was a devoted, exemplary Christian role model his entire life. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed watching and attending sporting events, especially his grandchildren’s games and the Phillies. He loved working in his yard and relaxing on his dock at the lake. In addition to his wife, Nancy Hayes Bown, he is survived by his children Debi (Larry) Mazzi, Angie (Mike) Kracke, and Michael (Kim) Bown; grandchildren Christopher (Kristin) Mazzi, Lisa (Charlie) Macho, and Kimberly Kracke; and great-grandchildren Gavin and Paisley Mazzi. Also surviving are his siblings, Raymond Bown, Patrick Bown and Patricia Frank. He was predeceased by his parents, David and Katherine Sheppard Bown and by his grandson Michael Kracke Jr. A viewing will be held on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday morning from 10-11 a.m. at the Bridgeton Church of the Nazarene, 350 West Park Drive, Bridgeton. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday morning, also at the church. Walter will be laid to rest in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Cedarville, immediately following the service. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Cedarville. Written condolences can be sent to the family through the funeral home website at www.padgettfuneralhomes.com.
