Obituary of Esther Monell Rain

Esther Monell Rain, 84, of Richmond, VA and formerly of Cedarville died on Saturday, November 16, 2014 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Mechanicsville, VA. Born in Natchez, MS to the late James White and Ruby Mullins White, she was the wife of the late Merle S. Rain. She had lived in VA for the past 4 years and prior to that she had resided in Cedarville. Monell was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She also enjoyed oil painting, cherubs and flower gardening in her free time. She loved decorating and spending time with her family during the holidays. Surviving are three daughters, Martha Cunningham and her husband, Ray of PA, Merle Lynn Zislin and her husband, Scott of FL and Jennifer Whitlock and her husband, David of VA; a son, David Neal Rain and his wife, Rene’ of Cedarville; a step-son, Robert W. Rain, Sr. of Hopewell Twp; eight grandchildren, Stephanie, Raymond, Michael, Jennifer, Christopher, Kaitlynn, Matthew and Spencer; three great-grandchildren, Emily, Zachary and Jacob and a brother, Bobby White of FL. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Jeanette, Pearl and Margaret and a brother, Jimmy. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 160 Main St., Cedarville, on Sunday, November 23rd at 12 Noon. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Cedarville.
