Obituary of Charles E. Daugherty

Charles E. "Chip" Daugherty, Jr., age 64 of Cedarville died Monday, November 21, 2011 at the South Jersey Health Care Hospice Care Unit in Bridgeton following a brief illness. The husband of Vicki Capelli Daugherty, he was born in Swedesboro on June 7, 1947 to the late Charles E. Daugherty and Anna Tighe Daugherty. He had been a Cedarville resident for 13 years and had lived in Pittsgrove and Mullica Hill prior to that. Before his retirement he had been employed at the Upper Deerfield Township Elementary Schools as a custodian. He had also previously been employed with E & M Auto Body in Shiloh as an I Certified and ASE Mechanic and also was a truck driver for many years. Chip was an avid fisherman and hunter and a classic car and NASCAR enthusiast. In addition to his wife Vicki, he is survived by his stepdaughter, Megan Taylor of Cedarville; two brothers, Quentin Daugherty of Mantua Township and Edward Smith of Billingsport and several nieces and nephews. A time of remembrance for family and friends will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway # 77, Upper Deerfield Township on Monday afternoon, November 28th from 3 to 5 PM. Cremation and inurnment took place at Laurel Lawn Crematory in Upper Deerfield Township. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions in Chip's memory be made to the American Cancer Society, 1851 Old Cuthbert Road, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034.
