Obituary of John G Ellis

John G. Ellis, 79, of Trenton formerly of Bridgeton died on Monday, April 16, 2018 at Providence Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Trenton.

Born in Hickory, Mississippi to the late Daniel W. Ellis and Minnie Ola Tanksley Ellis, he was the husband of the late Gladys Willis and the long time companion of the late Margaret Chandler. In 1947, John had moved to Bridgeton where he was a resident for most of his life.

Prior to his retirement, John had worked as a welder at the Salem Nuclear Plant for a few years, Peabody Welding and several other welding firms around the Cumberland County Area. In his free time, he was an avid CB operator going by the handle “653”. John also enjoyed playing the lottery, visiting the racetrack, and fancy cars. He was described by his family as a man who was full of love.

He is survived by; his brothers and sisters, Robert J. Ellis of Bridgeton, Eddie D. Ellis of Fairfield Twp., Ruby Jean Ellis-Taylor of Fairfield Twp., Willie Clarence Ellis of Sicklerville, Rose Marie Ellis of Millville, Brenda K. Ellis-Hannah of Fairfield Twp., Audrey Renee' Ellis-Williams of Vineland and Victor Lee Ellis of Fairfield Twp.; a son, Charles “Stevie” Wright of Philadelphia and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members. Besides his wife Gladys, he was preceded in death by; a son, Carl Evans; three brothers, Theodore “Teddy” Ellis, Daniel W. Ellis and Bruce Allen Ellis and his companion, Margaret Chandler.

Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Thursday, April 26th at 1 PM.
