            Hazel B. Ransom, 94, of Newport passed away at her home under the care of family and hospice on Thursday, February 15, 2018. 

            A lifetime Newport resident, she was the daughter of the late Leslie Bradford and Mary Mitchell Bradford and the wife of the late Arthur Ransom. 

            During her working career, Hazel was an elementary school teacher and had taught mainly in the Upper Deerfield Township School District.  She was a member of the Newport Baptist Church and was a 1941 graduate of Bridgeton High School.

            She is survived by her two daughters, Linda S. Glassner and her husband Geoffrey of Olmsted Falls, OH and Jill L. Ransom of Newport; two grandchildren, Scott Anderson (Jennifer) of TX and Philip Glassner of OH; two great-grandchildren, Sean and Luke Anderson; a sister, Mildred Wolcott of CA and a brother, A. Irving Bradford of Washington State.  She was predeceased by a sister, Irene Spence and a brother, Carl L. Bradford.

            A celebration of her life will be held at a later date at Newport Baptist Church.  Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at Newport Baptist Cemetery where the interment will follow the services.  Arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Cedarville.  In lieu of flowers at the services, the family asks that you plant a tree or flowers where you desire in Hazel’s memory.  Written condolences can be sent to the family at www.padgettfuneralhomes.com.
