Franklyn “Frank” M. Scythes, 83, of Fairfield Twp. died on Wednesday evening, December 27, 2017 at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland.
Born in Fairton to the late Paul C. Scythes, Sr. and Myrtle Husted Scythes, he was the husband of Laurel “Tiny” W. Kwasnicki Scythes. Frank had been a lifetime resident of Fairton.
Prior to his retirement, he had been employed at Wheaton Glass Co. in Millville for 45 years. Frank was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during peacetime. In his free time, he enjoyed farming, gardening, working on machinery, bingo and crossword puzzles.
Besides his wife Laurel “Tiny” Scythes, he is survived by; four children, William Scythes of West Virginia, Judith Dunkle of Bridgeton, Franklyn R. Scythes of Millville and Shelley Werkheiser of Fairton; two sisters, Ellen Mullen of Fairton and Bonnie Hudson of FL; a brother, Mervin Scythes of Fairton; four grandchildren, Robert Sargent, Dawn Sargent, Traci Hinder and Brian DelCollo and a great-granddaughter, Madison Hider. Frank was preceded in death by; a son, Franklyn Scythes, Jr.; four sisters, Blanche Woodward, Doris Watson, Earlene Brooks and Barbara Scythes and three brothers, William Scythes, Leslie Scythes and Paul Scythes, Jr.
Funeral services will be held on at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Wednesday, January 3rd at 11 AM. The family requests that those who attend services to please dress casual. Interment will take place at Overlook Cemetery in Bridgeton.
