Obituary of Maria Tiltmann

Maria Tiltmann, 86, of Upper Deerfield Twp. died on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at her home under the care of hospice and her family following a brief illness.

Born in Poland to Gustav Schmidt and Ann Hapke Schmidt, she was the wife of Erhard Tiltmann. In 1949, Maria was part of the mass exodus from Poland to Germany. During this time, she had lost siblings and other family members and experienced a difficult childhood. In 1966, she moved from Germany with her husband and young family to Upper Deerfield Twp. where she was blessed with a wonderful church family and many friends.

Prior to her retirement, Maria had worked in the housekeeping department at Bridgeton Hospital for over 20 years. She was a member of the Good News Assembly of God in Upper Deerfield Twp. In her free time, Maria enjoyed; gardening, baking and spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and friends.

She is survived by; her husband, Erhard Tiltmann of Upper Deerfield Twp.; a son, Alfred Tiltmann and his wife Deborah of Vineland; a daughter, Judy Guy and her husband, Michael Sr. of Upper Deerfield Twp.; four grandchildren, Christopher Tiltmann and his wife, Samantha of Vineland, Danielle Guy of Vineland, Michael Guy, Jr. of Upper Deerfield Twp. and Carley Guy of Upper Deerfield Twp.; a sister Elsa Kramer of Winnepeg, Canada; a brother, Gustav Schmidt and his wife, Waltraud of Germany and three great-granddaughters, Grace, Valentina and Faith.

Funeral services will be held at Good News Assembly of God, 6 Holly Ave., Bridgeton on Tuesday, December 19th at 12 Noon. Interment will take place at Laurel Lawn Cemetery in Upper Deerfield Twp. Friends will be received at the church from 11 AM to 12 Noon prior to the services. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
