Obituary of Suzanne S. Dowe

Suzanne S. Dowe, 87, of Cedarville, NJ, died on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland, NJ.

Born in Colmar, France on March 23, 1930 and foster-mothered by the late Francis “Fannie” Engel, Suzanne moved to the United States in April 1951. She was a resident of Cedarville for the past year and had been living in Jackson NJ. She previously lived in Wolf Point, Montana for thirty four years. Suzanne was preceded in death by August H.  Dowe Jr., to whom she was married for thirty years.

Suzanne worked as a weaver by trade in Europe for many years before moving to the United States. She also had worked for the Barbizon Company while living in Paterson, NJ and worked for a lithography company as a printer.

Suzanne was an artist in addition to being a mother and homemaker. She loved to work with watercolors and pen and ink mediums.  Suzanne loved gardening and also was an avid animal lover and enjoyed watching wild birds and other wildlife.

Suzanne is survived by her three daughters, Suzanne M. Hollis of Virginia Beach, VA, Heidi A. Herman of Cedarville, NJ, and Diane S. Eldridge of San Diego, CA; six grandchildren, Nicole Maxey, Stephen McCalister and Kyle Hollis, William, Roc and Ashley Herman; three great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Zachary and Autumn.  She was preceded in death by a daughter Noralee Rorvik, and a son August “Augie” Dowe IV.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the National Stroke Association or The Humane Society of the United States would be appreciated.
