Obituary of Dorothy C. Laing

            Dorothy C. Laing, 75, of Upper Deerfield Township passed away at home on Monday, September 4, 2017 under the care of Hospice and family. 

            The daughter of the late David R. Cook and Esther Holton Cook, she was the wife of the late Thomas A. Laing and had lived in Upper Deerfield Township for the past two years.  Prior to that she had lived in Woodstown but was raised in Bridgeton. 

            Before her retirement she had been employed with Cumberland County at the Cumberland Manor and with the Cumberland County Office on Aging. 

            A graduate of the Bridgeton High School Class of 1960, she enjoyed card making “Stamping” with different groups and participated in Bible Study.  She was a member of Grace Bible Church in Elmer and the “Friday Night Old Peoples Card Club” for 20 years.

            She is survived by three children, John D. Laing of Bridgeton, Chris A. Laing (Deanne) of Stow Creek Township and Kelli Laing of Upper Deerfield Twp.; four siblings, Lois Gandy of Bridgeton, Sharon Moore of FL, Jimmy Cook of Bridgeton and Donna Shestakoff of Bridgeton, 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by a son, Richard T. Laing, a brother, David Cook and a sister, Joyce Christos. 

            Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 9th, at 11 AM at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township.  Friends will be received from 10 to 11 AM prior to the services at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Dorothy's memory to the American Red Cross, PO Box 37839, Boone, IA 50037-0839 or they ask that you would donate blood in her honor.
