Obituary of Marjorie Dale Padgett

Marjorie Dale Brooks Padgett, 81, of Fairfield Township passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 27, 2017 after a brief stay at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

            The wife of P. Marvin Padgett, she was born in Bridgeton and was the daughter of the late Rulon D. Brooks, Sr. and Margaret Williams Brooks.  She was a resident of the Clark’s Pond area of Fairfield Township most of her life.

            After graduating from Bridgeton High School in 1953, she went on to attend the Philadelphia College of Art to pursue her greatest passion, art.  A spiritual and caring woman, Margie loved nature and the outdoors including places that had special meaning to her in Vermont where she enjoyed skiing for many years into her 70’s, Arizona and locally, Fortescue where she often spent time since she was a child.

            She was a member of the Parish of the Holy Cross, Immaculate Conception Church in Bridgeton where she had been active in different programs at the church.

            In addition to her husband, Marvin, she is survived by three children, Paul M. Padgett,Jr. (Denise) of Cedarville, Tracy Riland (Morris) of Milmay and Leslie Bateman (Steven) of Fairfield Township; six grandchildren, Paul M. Padgett, III, Devon Kay Padgett- Blew, Christopher Downey, Brooks Downey, Travis Riland and Ashley Padgett and two great-grandsons, William Blew IV and Silas Takeo Padgett.  She was predeceased by a brother, Rulon D. Brooks, Jr.

            Her Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at the Parish of the Holy Cross, Immaculate Conception Church, 312 North Pearl Street, Bridgeton, on Friday, September 1st at 1 PM.  Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.  The family asks that contributions in her memory be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN  38105.  Written condolences can be sent to the family at www.padgettfuneralhomes.com.
