Americus Williams, Sr., 87, of Cedarville died on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at his home under the care of Hospice and his family. Born in Waynesboro, GA to the late Lee Williams and Willie Mae Mathis Williams, he was the husband of Ella Marshall Williams. Americus moved to NJ in 1951 and was a resident of Cedarville most of his life. Prior to his retirement, he had worked as a heavy machine operator and engineer for Union Local 825 for over 37 years. He had also been employed by Ray Harvey after his retirement from union construction. Americus was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Cedarville and Cedargrove Missionary Baptist Church in Franklinville. In his free time, he enjoyed working with his hands, repairing cars and mowers, dancing and gospel singing. He loved to praise the Lord. He is survived by his wife, Ella of Cedarville, three grandchildren, Mathew Williams, Dayna Williams and Krysta Williams all of Cedarville; his daughter-in-law, Avery Williams of Cedarville; three sisters, Bobbie Costin of Gouldtown, Martha Saunders of Cedarville and Pauline Williams of Buena; a niece, Inez Stanton, two nephews, Ronald and Donald Stanton; five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members. He was preceded in death by; his son, Americus “Buck” Williams, Jr.; three brothers, John Williams, Matthew Williams and Frank Williams and five sisters, Marrion McKenzie. Ruby Philmlee, Mary McSweney, Ethel Walker and Heidi Williams. Funeral services will be held at New Hope Baptist Church, 47 Schaffer Ave. Cedarville on Thursday, March 16th at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Cedarville following the services. Friends will be received at the church from 9 AM to 11 AM prior to the services.
