Jerry “Donald” Carter, 65, of Port Norris died on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Inspira Medical Center-Vineland. Donald was born November 13, 1951 to Dorothy Broughton of Port Norris and the late Vernon Carter of Crisfield, Maryland. Donald attended the Crisfield Public School System. He was wed to Muriel Elizabeth Carter “Mae” on August 11, 1978. Donald served the in the United States Marine Corps and received the National Defense Service Medal for “Marksman” Rifle Shooting Badge. He worked at Woodbine Developmental Center, Silverton Marine and Zelphy's Christian Learning Center and was a skilled carpenter. Besides his wife Muriel “Mae”, Donald is survived by 12 children, Shakonda Norton, Nikkeya Howard, Donna Baldwin (Orson), Donald Carter, Jr., Janee Cisrow, Sherynna Murray, Dana Carter, Daniel Carter, Donavan Carter, Derrick Carter, Deidra Carter and Daylisa Carter, 28 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church, 2411 Memorial Ave., Port Norris on Friday, January 20th at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery in Hopewell Twp. Friends will be received at the church from 9 AM to 11 AM prior to the services.
