Sarah E. Hartmann, 87, of Newport passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at her home. Born in Bridgeton, she was the daughter of the late George Bowen and Violet Hann Bowen and the wife of the late John Joseph Hartmann. She was a longtime resident of Newport. Before her retirement, Sarah had been employed as a secretary at the Moore School in Upper Deerfield Township. She had also previously worked as a musician playing the accordion. She had her own music studio in Bridgeton where she instructed students in playing the accordion and had served as a director of the ”Sweet Adelines” choral group and her own group, the “Hearts of Harmony”. Sarah had attended both the Newport United Methodist and the West Park United Methodist Churches. She is survived by; her daughter, Kelly Kuwabara of Philadelphia; her nieces and nephews, Charles Bowen, Jr. of Cocoa Beach; Linda and George Scully of Buena; Tukie Bowen of New York, Charles Bowen, III of Sebastian, Bonnie Woodbery of Tallahassee; Susie Dolbow of Woodbury Heights and Jason Lewis of Mays Landing and other family members. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 160 Main Street, Cedarville on Thursday, December 29th at 4 PM. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 3 to 4 PM prior to the services. Interment will be private at Old Stone Church Cemetery in Fairfield Township.
