Willis “S” Sylvester Humphries, Jr., 60, of Millville died Monday, May 16, 2016 at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia following an extended illness. Born in Port Norris and a resident there most of his life, he was the son of the late Willis S. Humphries, Sr. and Gladys Langston Humphries and the husband of Carolyn Smith Humphries. Before his retirement due to disability, he had worked as a truck driver with the Gorton Seafood Company for over 15 years. He had also worked in Direct Care at the Woodbine Developmental Center. A member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Port Norris and the Q Ball Billiards League, he enjoyed riding motorcycles, bingo, fishing, being a DJ as “Dr. Blob” and dancing. In addition to his wife Carolyn, he is survived by four sons, Romaine Rhett of Vineland, Willis S. Humphries, III of Millville, Derrell Martin, Jr. of Vineland and Ja’rule Humphries of Port Norris; four daughters, Jimell Thompson, Tawanna Thompson, Tauhidah Thompson and Ashley Torres all of Millville; a brother, Nathan Langston, Sr. of Millville; two sisters, Lillian Parker of CA and Renee Langston of Georgetown, DE; two uncles, Jerome Humphries of MD and William Langston of Port Norris, 22 grandchildren, a great-granddaughter and a host of other family members. Funeral services will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church, 2411 Memorial Avenue, Port Norris on Monday, May 23rd at 11 AM. Friends will be received at the church from 9 to 11 AM prior to the services.
